Congratulations to Susan Chan for her outstanding achievement.
During the day, Susan works as a Senior Systems Analyst in the Information Technology Division at WorkSafeBC. In the evenings and weekends, she teaches piano and music theory. As a late starter to learning the piano, she understands the many challenges facing adult students. She started a very successful adult performance group which meets once a month. “I am very glad I am not the only crazy adult taking piano lessons and exams. There are quite a few of us out there.”
Susan plans to complete the ARCT in Piano Pedagogy. She is very grateful to her teacher David Vandereyk who takes her pursuit seriously, offering much guidance, support and encouragement.
The BC silver medal for the Intermediate Piano Pedagogy is awarded to the candidate in the province who receives the highest average mark for Parts 2 and 3 (Viva Voce and Written Examination) of the Pedagogy level and has also completed the requirements for Grade 10 Piano.
Susan is also the recipient of a Frederick Harris Music Co., Limited Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding achievement.
